About this Painting
When I first began watercolor painting, horses were almost all I painted. I grew up in a town surrounded by them, and they have always been my favorite animal.
One day, as I was signing another horse painting, a friend grabbed my wrist and jokingly said, "No more horses after this one. It's time to branch out and paint a person."
She offered countless ideas, and after much thought, I finally designed and painted Flowers. Creating this piece pushed me outside of my comfort zone and opened the door to subjects I had never considered painting before.
Since then, I have painted many more portraits and countless other works of art, but Flowers remains one of the most beloved paintings among my audience—and one of my personal favorites as well.
