About this Painting
I painted Unbridled because I wanted to embrace the watercolor medium in its fullest form. Instead of focusing on perfect lines and controlled details, I wanted the paint to feel alive through splashes of blue and gold, loose edges, and colors that seem to move right alongside the horse.
There is something about horses that naturally carries a sense of freedom. They are powerful, expressive, and full of movement, which made this horse the perfect subject for a looser style of painting.
The title Unbridled came from that same feeling. Both the horse and the watercolor are allowed to be a little wild and unrestricted. This piece became an exploration of what can happen when I loosen my grip on perfection and simply let the paint move.
