There is something peaceful about imagining the quiet moments of Jesus Christ’s life. Upon the Hill portrays the Savior sitting alone, looking across the landscape before Him.

I wanted this painting to feel still and reflective. The soft sky, distant hills, and open landscape surround Christ with a sense of calm, while His gaze seems fixed on something beyond what we can see.

So much of Christ’s life was spent teaching, serving, healing, and giving to others, but the scriptures also tell us of times when He withdrew to quiet places. I wanted to capture a moment like that. Not a particular event or scripture, but simply the Savior in a moment of stillness.
